Calcium CarbonateCalcium carbonate supplied in large sacks is a white, odourless powder that is insoluble in water. Naturally occurring powder is obtained while mining limestone. The purity of the calcium carbonate is maintained during the extraction process. Limestone is often decomposed to calcium oxide followed by subsequent recarbonization to produce precipitated calcium carbonate. This carbonic salt of calcium (CaCO3) is used as a calcium supplement, a fertilizer, a food colouring, an antacid and a phosphate buffer. This inorganic calcium salt is called as a carbonate salt. Customers can buy this calcium carbonate in E.P, IP, USP and BP grades. |
